Robert was born in Ohio, in 1938. Unable to study at art school, he found a job in a professional art studio and became a correspondent of Famous Artists School, where he learnt the important discipline of meeting deadlines. After graduating from Famous Artists he worked during the 70's as an illustrator, producing work for a number of covers of "Time" magazine.

In the early 80's his obsession with dance scenes was fired by a visit to the ballet and he has produced works for many of the world's leading ballet companies, as well as a commissions from Andrew Lloyd Webber to paint scenes from "Cats" & Phantom of the Opera". His work was collected by Diana Princess of Wales & his exhibitions have been attended by Princess Margaret, Princess Caroline of Monaco & Prince Takamado of Japan.
